Thriller in the City “Flash Mob” hits Victoria Place, 16-04-2011

Warming up for the London 2012 Games, the Birmingham Hippodrome has been organising a series of “flash mob” dance events, the first of which – Thriller in the City – took place around about midday on a very sunny Saturday, 16th April 2011, in Victoria Square in front of the Council House (by the water fountain steps).

The Thriller in the City flash mob was well staged with various pre-trained members of the public joining in for the Thriller dance after a few minutes of dancing to other MJ tunes by a small bunch of talented local dancers.

Thriller in the City was directed by Shaun Cope of Spirit Arts, who works with DanceXchange at the Birmingham Hippodrome where he shares his own unique flavour of dance called Urban Fusion.

The event was financially supported by Dancing for the Games which is part of West Midlands Culture Programme for London 2012 which is funded by the lottery-funded Arts Council & Legacy Trust UK as well as Advantage West Midlands. What a team effort! You can’t say the men in suits didn’t do their bit!
