The race follows alongside the canal that links Wolverhampton and Birmingham, starting at Wolverhampton’s Canal Docks and finishing at Brindley Place, Birmingham.
Macmillan are searching for runners to pull on their famous green vest and join Team Macmillan for this run. Don’t worry if you’re not a race winner, your fundraising will be a guaranteed win for Macmillan. Macmillan gives medical and practical care to those with cancer and their families and it’s fundraising activities make it all possible.
The Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon is a basically flat route with the odd ‘lumps’ of locks and bridges. The route takes runners through the 360yard long tunnel at Coseley, an “entertaining” feature enjoyed by some, hated by others but remembered by all! It is a completely off road, traffic free route with a variety of surfaces, from well kept gravel paths and paving, to unkempt towpaths. Floating drink stations offer frequent respite for runners. The only danger on the route are from the resident geese!
Macmillan offer members of Team Macmillan support in their run – whether it’s their first or fiftieth race. Their website is full of helpful training information, race day tips and helpful ideas for fundraising.
Sign-up for the Birmingham Black Country Half Marathon is via Runner’s World. Macmillan also support runners in other races, both locally and nationally. You can search for an event that’s to your taste on their “Perfect Run” search engine.
